Hi! I’m Shannon, your personal Nutritionist. I am a Certified Nutrition Educator and graduate of Bauman College of Holistic Nutrition and Culinary Arts in Berkeley, California. Living in San Francisco, I enjoy living and eating healthily! But let me start at the beginning…
I moved out west to be a design director for a large retailer. It was great! I traveled all over the world researching trends, shopping, and creating affordable fashion for America. The best part about the jet setting was the food! I loved trying samosas in New Delhi, authentic Chinese cuisine in Hong Kong, handmade pasta in Florence, and delectable dairy in Reykjavic, Iceland. Shopping and eating - what more could I ask for?
Well, the long hours and stressful pressures of the design industry started to take their toll on my health. When traveling to a factory overseas, I became extremely sick. I went to at least eight different doctors, and no one could figure out what was wrong with me. SCARY!!! Finally, a year later, this wonderful naturopath discovered that I had a microscopic parasite. After a year of deteriorating, I knew I had to be serious about rebuilding my health.
I studied raw foodism and macrobiotics, cooking it myself and eating at the best whole food restaurants around the globe. Each time I would return home to the U.S. disheartened by the abundance of fast food chains and the lack of appreciation for gathering at the dinner table to enjoy a fresh meal. I even witnessed my own team of designers skipping lunch, eating on the run, and grabbing donuts and coffee for breakfast. I decided to make it a habit that each day we would all sit together as a team and eat and chat for our entire hour lunch. We were more productive and relaxed. Everyone deserves this simple pleasure.
